About Us

We are located in north Georgia (Euharlee, GA). Here at Southern Traditions, we breed only AKC registered Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff) with excellent temperament, health, pedigree and quality. We raise our Dogues inside of our home with our family and with lots of love and care. This ensures great socialization skills for our puppies prior to going to their forever home. We provide quality nutrition to optimize health and strength. We will teach you how to provide this same nutrition. All puppies will be vetted, wormed and receive 2 sets of vaccines before joining their forever home. Puppies will come with a written health guarantee. We also provide ongoing support to our families. We invest a great deal into our puppies and Dogues to ensure the highest quality possible.

About the Breed

The Dogue de Bordeaux is one of the oldest dog breeds found in France. These dogs have come back from near extinction twice! Known to be of the brachycephalic molossoid family/descendants. The Dogue de Bordeaux is a large and extremely powerful, muscular dog. They are characterized by its large head, wrinkly face and interesting personality. These dogs have an intimidating appearance and a very keen intuition, a great deterrent for would be intruders or unwelcome parties. Although they have an intimidating appearance, Dogues are wonderful dogs, they love people and tend to have a calm and even temperament. They love being with their families and they are excellent with children. These dogs are very protective of their families. Throughout history, they have been used as guard/watch dogs, in wars and as hunting dogs. They have also been used to drive cattle, haul things and draw carts.

This Breed is not for everyone, which means a potential family should be prepared for a puppy that grows into a very large dog very quickly. Even though they appear to be adults, they are still puppies (they do not fully mature until age 2). These dogs not only enjoy being inside with their families but they require it as they do not tolerate high temperatures for long periods of time. However, they do require proper exercise appropriate for their age, early training and socialization. These dogs have a fairly short life span of about 5-9 years as most large breed dogs do. If you do choose this breed, you will have a loyal companion for his/her lifetime and you will never want to be without a Dogue de Bordeaux!
